Radioactive

I woke up this morning with the song Radioactive blaring in my skull. I don't even like this song. I know this is my subconscious speaking to me but I am unsure about what part of my life.  This blog post is a part of my speculations on where things could be radioactive in my life.  The trouble is that when I try, I block myself from that part of my brain. Obviously if my mind can block me out of myself, I still have a lot of work to do. That said, my mind is powerful and I need it to work with me.  I think this blog post is a great example of how my mind can look for positive energy and find it.  Even this first paragraph of this blog post has turned from confusion and negativity to a positive discussion.  My mantra is "I am worthy, I embrace the positive power of the Universe".  You too can live this.

I am embarrassed by this video but this is where I was this morning:

After I got to work, I looked up the lyrics to Radioactive and this blog post started writing itself.  I learned that a band called the Imagine Dragons wrote and preform the song (my boys would be ashamed of me for not knowing this).  I also learned that the lyrics are about waking up to reality and destroying the demons of your mind.  At least this is my interpretation.  Here is a snip of the lyrics from the song and the video.  You can get the full lyrics at the bottom of this blog post.

All systems go, the sun hasn't died
Deep in my bones, straight from inside
I am waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age.

Two things (in addition to Radioactive) have already popped up in my life today to remind me that my mind is strong and I should stay positive and happy.

The first was my horoscope.  Yes, I know that horoscopes are bogus and my mind can twist them to meet its needs or match my mood.  I guess that is exactly why I read mine - I enjoy the mind play of the horoscope.  Here is one of the Scorpio horoscopes for today (yes - you can shop around to different horoscope sources if you don't like the one you get at first):

"Some small corner of your life is brighter and more rewarding than it was.  You may not have noticed this though because you are wearing sunglasses (the figurative kind, of course).  You may be afraid of seeing anything that appears too bright for fear that you'll get too used to it, start expecting the best, and wind up being disappointed when it doesn't work out that way.  But take off those sunglasses (err. rather that bad attitude), and look for the light.  Once you see it, you can open a window and let in even more light."

The second was an Instagram post that quoted Arnold Schwarzenegger.  Who would have thought I would get advice for a muscle-bound steroid abuser, Conan, and California governor?  His quote is pretty well timed and speaks to me today.

"The mind always fails first, not the body. The secret is to make your mind work for you, not against you" - Arnold Schwarzenegger

I ate my pizza but my day has really turned around.  I am looking forward to seeing what today brings.  Less than one minute of the first video I took today, I recorded another video.  I noticed the sun coming up behind me and was reminded of what I am striving for - happiness.  The sun makes me happy.  My family makes me happy.  Snakes make me happy.  My life makes me happy.  Remember - The positive energy of the Universe is available to you - embrace it."

"Radioactive"
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa

I'm waking up to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I'm breathing in the chemicals

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

I raise my flags, don my clothes
It's a revolution, I suppose
We'll paint it red to fit right in
Whoa

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

All systems go, the sun hasn't died
Deep in my bones, straight from inside

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
