Bittersweet Symphony

Each day begins with a sunrise This photo contains today's first light and represents my daily renewal and fresh opportunity to break the mold I created for myself a long time ago.
Poor iPhone photo of today's first light while waiting for the bus
As usual, I was listening to Pandora this morning on my daily 6:00am bus ride into Denver.  Music often speaks to me but I rarely listen.  This morning I did listen because a song that rings true in my life started playing - Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve.

I often feel stuck in a mold as I try to make changes in my life. As I wrote in my first blog, this blog is my space to document my 40th year on this planet. This blog is for me and no one else so I felt I should document the lyrics to Bittersweet Symphony as a part of my life.  This song represents my first 39 years - time to break this mold and live my life my way.

There is the video for this song at the bottom of this post.  I highly recommend you at least listen to the song - I bet it will speak to you as well.

Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve

'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
Try to make ends meet
You're a slave to money then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
where all the veins meet yeah,

No change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I'm here in my mold
I am here in my mold
But I'm a million different people
from one day to the next
I can't change my mold
No, no, no, no, no

Well I never pray
But tonight I'm on my knees yeah
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now
But the airways are clean and there's nobody singing to me now

No change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I'm here in my mold
I am here in my mold
And I'm a million different people
from one day to the next
I can't change my mold
No, no, no, no, no
I can't change
I can't change

'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
Try to make ends meet
Try to find some money then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
where all the things meet yeah

You know I can change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I'm here in my mold
I am here in my mold
And I'm a million different people
from one day to the next
I can't change my mold
No, no, no, no, no

I can't change my mold
no, no, no, no, no,
I can't change
Can't change my body,
no, no, no

I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
Been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Have you ever been down?
Have you've ever been down?
